CIAL Dun & Bradstreet announces partnership with the Federal Government of Brazil
The Brazil Ministry of Economy and CIAL Dun & Bradstreet are pleased to announce a partnership enabling foreign corporations to bid on Brazilian government projects. This initiative delivers on the Brazilian Government’s commitment to transition to global procurement of projects, gaining benefit from world-class international businesses.
Commencing October 1, 2020, International companies are allowed to bid on Government contracts without the need to set-up a local entity prior to being awarded the bid. The identification of all international companies will be accomplished using the D-U-N-S® Number as the unique identifier of businesses within the procurement process. The new system of Data Management will help the government identify and organize its suppliers from Brazil and abroad.
A more Data-Driven procurement process will enable the Government to have more insights on its current and new suppliers and thus reduce fraud, improve supplier selection, and adhere to compliance requirements. It provides insight into suppliers’ ownership structure, financial and operational capability of fulfilling the contract, among other vital information. The D-U-N-S Number and the CIAL Dun & Bradstreet Data Cloud will be an integral part of the Government procurement system (Compranet/SICAF) providing transparency, efficiency, and insight.
“With this partnership, we expect to contract suppliers in conditions with greater advantages for the public administration and also to strengthen the insertion of Brazil in the global economy. The Brazilian government is committed with efficiency gains and helping Brazilian companies to increase their exports to new markets”, said Cristiano Heckert, secretary at the Special Secretariat for Debureaucratization, Management, and Digital Government at the Ministry of Economy.
Established in 1963, the Dun & Bradstreet D-U-N-S® Number is a unique nine-digit number that identifies business entities often referenced by potential business partners to help predict the reliability and financial stability of the company in question. Recognized globally, the D-U-N-S Number connects, validates, and links over 400 million businesses worldwide.
“CIAL Dun & Bradstreet is very excited about this partnership and the opportunity to support the Federal Government and Brazilian companies to further connect to global commerce. Our objective is to provide comprehensive data & insights to enable businesses and governments to make informed and confident decisions, thereby driving economic growth while mitigating risk, “ said Marcos Maciel, Chief Executive Officer, CIAL Dun & Bradstreet Brazil.
As of October 1st, 2020 all foreign companies pursuing business with the government of Brazil will be required to obtain a D-U-N-S Number as part of the federal procurement process.
